What is budgett frog?

The budgett frog, also known as the Paraguay horned frog or Paraguay pixie frog, is a species of frog native to South America, specifically Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. It belongs to the family Ceratophryidae.

Budgett frogs are easily recognizable by their large, round bodies and distinct facial features, including two horn-like projections above their eyes. They have a mottled brown and green coloration with irregular darker markings on their skin.

These frogs are semi-aquatic and can be found in ponds, lakes, marshes, and slow-moving streams in their natural habitat. They are known for their voracious appetites and will eat almost anything that can fit into their mouths, including insects, small rodents, and even other frogs.

Budgett frogs are popular as pets due to their unique appearance and interesting behavior. They are relatively easy to care for, requiring a large, watery habitat with ample hiding spots and a diet of insects and small vertebrates. However, they can be aggressive and should not be housed with smaller tankmates.

In captivity, budgett frogs can live up to 10-15 years with proper care. It is important to provide a warm and humid environment, as well as regular access to freshwater for swimming. Additionally, they may require a varied diet to ensure they receive all necessary nutrients.
